How do we explore? Here are our perceptual-motor topics:
Body image - learn how the movement of functions of the body in relation to each other and to other objects
Balance - ability to assume and maintain body position against gravity
Visual-motor control - ability to successfully integrate visual and motor responses into a physical action
Coordination - ability of body to integrate the action of the muscles of the body to accomplish a specific movements in the most efficient manner
Proprioception - ability to be aware of muscular movement and position of the body in space
Gross-motor coordination - ability to produce efficient total body movement
Fine-motor coordination - ability to use small muscles to the degree that they can perform specific small movements such as writing, grasping, turning in small space
Sustained movements - ability to executive motor skills consecutively for a prolonged period of time
Space-awareness (Spatial Orientation) - ability to select a reference point to stabilize functions
Laterality - ability to internalize the awareness of the difference between right and left, ability to control left and right of the body together and/or separately
Directionality - ability to be aware of external space outside of the body
Hand-eye coordination - ability to use one’s eyes and hands together to accomplish a task
Foot-eye coordination - ability to use one's eyes and feet together to accomplish a task
Ocular Pursuit - ability of one’s eyes to work together in tracking a moving object
Kinesthesis - ability to be aware of one’s muscular movement and the energy given during a task
